Panama acts as a bridge between Central and South America, while Panama City connects the most modern elements of Latin America's present and future with its colonial past.
Panama's skyline of glittering steel-and-glass skyscrapers and dozens of cranes highlights the wealth and strength of Panama's economy, led by the Panama Canal and its International Banking Center. Yet the old-town sector ("Casco Viejo") of the city dates back to 1673, and serves as a living reminder of the city's colonial days, when Panama was a stop-over point for traders, conquistadores, and pirates. And a few kilometers away from the city centerstand the ruins of the original settlement, dating back to 1519.

IFRS for SMEs training (By Nomination Only)IFRS for SMEs trainingThe first-ever Train the Trainers Workshop on IFRS for SMEs in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region. The intensive and interactive training will provide a detailed understanding of the topic and equip the trainers to replicate the training in their own country.
The Train the Trainer workshop is organized by The World Bank with the collaboration of International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation and Collegium of Authorized Public Accountants of Panama, and subsidized by the Ministry of Finance of Spain. Space is limited to 60 participants among the countries of the Latin America and the Caribbean Region, and participants must be nominated by their local IFAC Member Bodies.
