Panama acts as a bridge between Central and South America, while Panama City connects the most modern elements of Latin America’s present and future with its colonial past.
Panama’s skyline of glittering steel-and-glass skyscrapers and dozens of cranes highlights the wealth and strength of Panama’s economy, led by the Panama Canal and its International Banking Center. Yet the old-town sector (“Casco Viejo”) of the city dates back to 1673, and serves as a living reminder of the city’s colonial days, when Panama was a stop-over point for traders, conquistadores, and pirates. And a few kilometers away from the center of a city stand the ruins of the original settlement, dating back to 1519.

CReCER Leadership & Commitment 2010, held in Panama City, Panama, will bring together executives and officials from the highest levels of the private and public sectors in a closed, off-the-record forum. Discussions will focus on financial sector issues of mutual interest, including implementation of international standards, best practices in public financial management, and the development of the accountancy profession.
CReCER Leadership & Commitment 2010, sponsored by the World Bank, the International Federation of Accountants, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Collegium of Authorized Public Accountants of Panama, is an exclusive event, by invitation only. It is not open to the public or the press (except for the opening ceremonies). Your invitation is not transferrable, except by previous arrangement with the CReCER Organizing Committee.
